We are praying that 2011 will be a refreshingly good year for our Brothers and Sisters in Haiti.
Recap of 2010:
- January 12th an
earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale
Over 40
after-shocks of 6.0 or greater
Over 200,000
died; 300,000
injured
Over 250,000
residences and 30,000
businesses destroyed
Over
1 million people left
homeless

Spring rains came causing
flooding in some areas and adding to the damage

Cholera brought into the country and has claimed over 2,000 lives

Hurricane Tomas came across parts of the country causing flooding and wind damage

Presidential election made for some unhappy people and
"demonstrations"...
Disaster Relief Efforts (at year's end):
- 131 Wooden homes built
- 6 Concrete Block homes built
- Approximately another 120 homes built through the efforts of House of Blessing
Orphanage in Calebasse, Haiti
- Dozens of work teams from churches all over helping in the efforts
That is the "year in review"...
THANK YOU, people of God, for responding financially, physically and prayerfully. And we thank the Lord Jesus for blessing the efforts put forth by all.
Now,
looking forward...
- Presidential runoff sometime in January with the winner taking office in February
- Work teams continue to be scheduled through May
- Haiti getting back to "normal"-- Who would have ever thought that "getting back to
normal" would mean getting back to being a "third world country"...?...
So, for
2011 -- Pray, PRAY,
PRAY!!!
Pray that the country of Haiti will continue to turn to our Lord and that the He will bless those who do, abundantly.
